Minha Querida, Leiria

Thank goodness for David’s family, because they were beyond sweet to pick us up from Lisbon to take us to my father-in-law’s hometown, Leiria.

David’s grandmother’s house reminds me so much of my abuelita’s house. The look of it, the feel of it, but especially the people living in it.

The boys finally got to meet their great grandma (Henry calls her Vava). When we stopped in to see her, she was snacking on a chocolate ice cream bar, which was a great ice breaker for Henry. He was so shy, but when he saw they shared interest in chocolate - instant love!

I love David’s family so much - immediate and extended. They remind me so much of my own family - they welcome you like their own and they truly make me feel like I’ve known them forever. I’m a total introvert and normally feel extremely uncomfortable in social situations, but when I’m with David’s family, it truly is like an extension of my own family.

After a short visit, David’s parents took us to our next destination - Praia de Vieira. But first, pastries.
